Abstract

The artificial hip joint socket (10) is formed by flexibly-connected, relatively-stiff cup segments (11, 12, 13) forming the inner surface (14) and part of the outer surface (15) of the socket. It has fins (17) projecting from the outer surfaces. The fins are arranged near the open edges (18) of the cup segments, and project perpendicularly away from the local cup surface. Description

The invention relates to an artificial acetabular cup with at least two both forming part of the inner surface as well as part of the outer surface of the pan, relatively rigid shell segments that are flexibly connected to one another.

Such an artificial acetabular cup is known from DE 195 32 898 A1. In the known pan have the shell segments countersunk holes for receiving fasteners screws. According to a modified embodiment of the pan, the shell segments are equipped with resilient inserts, which with over the edge of the pan radially projecting lugs are provided, the Noses have a through opening for inserting a fastening screw sen.

The invention has for its object an artificial acetabular cup to create the type mentioned, in which the attachment of the pan to the implant location is facilitated and / or improved.

Starting from an artificial acetabular cup of the type mentioned at the beginning This object is achieved in that at least one egg from the outside Nes of the shell segments protrudes at least one rib outwards, the rib is arranged near the free edge of the associated shell segment and from which associated shell segment protrudes in a plane that is at least approximate extends perpendicular to the plane in which the free shell segment edge lies.

The inventive design allows the artificial acetabular cup in the natural acetabulum easy to squeeze or hammer in, taking the rib digs into the acetabulum. One in the acetabulum over the buried rib remaining gap increases in a very short time. As a rule, additional attachments can be made screws are completely dispensed with. Nevertheless, the artificial hip joint pan secured against turning and tipping.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the rib can be angled at least one th flange. Such a flange ensures a further improved anchoring artificial acetabular cup in the acetabulum. The flange can in particular at the end of the outer shell of the associated shell segment Rib can be arranged, and the rib can preferably L-shape or T-shape ha ben.

As an additional anchoring aid, the rib can be punched out with at least one to form at least one spring tongue and / or with at least one through opening for waxing bone tissue.

The rib expediently stands from the outer surface of the associated shell segment at least approximately radially and the rib is at a distance from the free edge the associated shell segment arranged.

The rib is preferably made of metal, in particular titanium, and also the The outer surface of the shell segments preferably consists of metal, in particular titanium, while the inner surface of the shell segments preferably made of plastic, in particular Polyethylene.

The shell segments are preferably at their free edge with an outward projecting flange part so that the total acetabular cup as a whole receives a hat-shaped configuration. The flange parts of the shell segments form egg NEN stop when driving the artificial acetabular cup into the acetabulum and in particular prevent the acetabular cup from going deeper than intended immersed in the acetabulum.

The shell segments are also advantageously bevelled on their free edge, that its inner end lies in a plane that is one from the pole of the pan has a greater distance than the plane in which the outer end of the shells segments. In this way it can be ensured that the head of an associated one Hip prosthesis over a particularly large angular range from the artificial Lichen acetabular cup is enclosed.

Fig. 7 shows the acetabular cup 10, together with an insertion tool 32nd The insertion tool 32 has a head part 33 which dips into the socket 10 and is dimensioned such that it rests against the inner surface 14 of the socket 10 when the socket has its protruding edge formed by the flange parts 26 on a complementary projection 34 of the insertion tool 32 sits on. The acetabular cup 10 can be fixed on the insertion tool 32 by means of one or more clamps 35 . The hip joint socket thus fixed is hammered into the acetabulum during implantation using the insertion tool 32 . The ribs 17 dig into the bone tissue. After loosening the clamping clip (s) 35 , the insertion tool 32 is then removed.

The ribs 17 can be connected in one piece to the metal outer surface 15 of the acetabular cup 10 or fastened to this outer surface in any suitable manner, for. B. laser welded to this.
