THE METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR INTERNET ELECTRONIC COMMERCE BY OFFLINE MEDIA LINKED WITH INTERNET
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a method and system for providing internet commerce services through harmony between online and offline media, and more particularly, to an internet electronic commerce system and method using integrated web-linked offline media wherein by issuing the offline media, transactions between consumers and member companies (all enterprises that periodically provide members registered in their databases with related information such as credit card companies, mobile communication companies, home shopping companies and member stores) can be made through the offline media.
Background Art
Computer communications, which have been incessantly developed, together with the development of mobile communication technologies, have greatly contributed to the formation of a 'global village'. Combined with high-speed information and communication technologies, computer communications take a leading position in the information and communication industry.
Since an internet initially confined to a wired network has been spread to a wireless network, demands for the services are expected to continue to increase day by day. In addition, internet technology has also been rapidly developed.
In particular, the internet allows education, meetings, medical services and commerce to be achieved anywhere, anytime and between anyone, by connecting servers, which become the center of respective networks scattered worldwide, with each other.
All enterprises over the world are hugely interested in electronic commerce through the internet, mainly due to the fact that it is not limited to time and space. Since electronic commerce over the internet is not limited to time, space or
distance, and all procedures such as product sale/purchase, price settlement and product delivery are online processed; advantages such as convenience and time saving are afforded to consumers. Furthermore, the internet provides highly effective cost reduction due to the curtailment of distribution processes and a low cost and highly efficient publicity.
However, in order to maximize corporate value, to prevent customers from leaving, to draw superior customers and to activate potential customers, more distinctive internet services are still required.
Taking for instance the internet services of credit card companies, up to now, each of the customers should connect with the internet site of the credit card company and confirm transaction particulars of their own credit card and other official announcements from the credit card company, in order to obtain services from the credit card company through the internet. In a case where a customer has two or more credit cards of different companies, the customer has to connect with two or more sites of the credit card companies in order to confirm their credit card transaction particulars.
Next, taking for instance the internet services of member stores affiliated with the credit card company, since the member stores have been operating their own individual internet sites, the customers can see product advertisements for the member stores, only when the customers connect with the internet sites of the member stores.
Furthermore, in operating the internet sites of the member stores for product sales, the member stores provide the product advertisements produced in a diversified and three-dimensional design through their internet sites, and attempt to maximize their corporate values and to draw a plurality of customers. In particular, some member stores have provided lifelike product design through the internet using virtual reality techniques, and thus, the customers feel more like they are entering an actual store.
In such a case, however, from the viewpoint of the member stores that advertise such products, it is difficult to transmit all the data of the product advertisements to the customer's computer because the capacity of data to be uploaded
to the internet site is too large.
In other words, it takes the customer a long time to attempt to connect with the site of the specific member store. This becomes a major cause for the customer leaving the site, since rapid internet services are greatly required under recent circumstances.
Disclosure of Invention
An object of the present invention is to solve these problems stated above, and thus to provide an internet electronic commerce system and method through web- linked offline media for collecting credit card transaction particulars of respective customers and informing the customers of the particulars in the lump. Another object of the present invention is to provide an internet electronic commerce system through web-linked offline media for providing the credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers or supporting companies and information thereon through issuance of the offline media.
A second object of the present invention to provide an internet electronic commerce system and method through web-linked offline media, wherein online product purchase can be made by providing an online advertisement for the products of the member stores affiliated with a credit card company through the offline media such as CD-ROMs and by performing the relay of site connection through online connection information (URL) on the member store inserted into the offline media.
A third object of the present invention is to provide an internet electronic commerce system and method through web-linked offline media for directly linking a purchase settlement to the credit card company of a customer (a credit card company in charge of a member store where the customer wants to purchase products) upon purchase of the products through the internet site of the member store affiliated with the credit card company.
In order to achieve these above objects, an internet electronic commerce method according to the present invention comprises a first step of collecting the transaction particulars of respective customers and information on official
announcements thereto from registered credit card companies and further collecting information on product advertisements for member stores affiliated with the credit card companies; a second step of issuing offline media of respective customers, which contain the collected information and online connection information (URL) on the relevant credit card companies and the member stores which provide the collected information; and a third step of providing a computer of a specific customer with pages of the internet site of the relevant credit card company or member store when the customer wants to connect with the site by using the online connection information contained in the issued offline media. It is preferable that the method further comprises a step of accumulating the number of times the customer connects with the site of the member store through the offline media and providing the member store with the accumulated number, upon completion of the third step. Furthermore, it is preferable that the duration of the customer staying at the site of the member store with which the customer connects is measured, accumulated and managed, by analyzing logon/logoff times of the customer connection with the site of the member store, through the offline media.
It is also preferable that when the customer requests to connect with the site, the pages of the sites of the relevant credit card company or member store are provided to the customer's computer during the third step, after it is determined as to whether the customer is eligible to use the services upon receipt and then authentication of the identification number and password of the customer.
It is further preferable that after the third step, when the relevant customer requests to purchase of specific products through the pages of the site of the specific member store provided to the customer's computer, the purchase order made out by the customer is transmitted to the site of the relevant member store and the purchase settlement between the member store and the credit card company is relayed. In particular, in order to relay the purchase settlement between the member store and the credit card company, enterprise identification number, enterprise registration number and name/address of the member store, and names and prices of the products to be sold, which are provided from the member store, are temporarily stored; credit card number,
term of validity and approval number of the customer's credit card, which are identified through the authentication of the customer and provided from the credit card company, are also temporarily stored; a credit purchase slip containing the temporarily stored items, sale date of the products and signature data transmitted from the customer's computer is created; the created credit purchase slip is transmitted to the member store and credit card company, respectively; and the relay of the purchase settlement is consequently completed.
On the other hand, the internet electronic commerce method according to the present invention comprises a first step of collecting information on product advertisements for supporting companies and bulletin information needed for a magazine; a second step of issuing offline media including the collected information and online connection information (URL) on the relevant supporting companies which have provided the collected information; a third step of providing a computer of a customer with an offline magazine and the advertisements for the supporting companies; and a fourth step of providing pages of sites of the relevant supporting companies to the customer's computer when the customer wants to connect with the sites.
In order to achieve the above objects, an internet electronic commerce system according to the present invention comprises a computer of a customer; a server of a credit card company which issues a credit card of the customer; servers of member stores affiliated with the credit card company; and a relay server for collecting credit card transaction particulars of the customer from the credit card company's server, selectively collecting product advertisements in which the customer is interested, among the product advertisements for the member stores, and issuing offline media containing the collected items and online connection information (URL) on the credit card company's server and the member stores' servers.
It is preferable that the customer's computer drives the issued offline media, displays information contained in the offline media in response to the drive thereof, and transmits identification number and password of the pre-registered customer to the relay server when the customer requests to connect with a specific server.
Accordingly, it is preferable that the relay server receives the customer's identification number and password transmitted from the customer's computer in response to the driving of the offline media, and performs authentication as to whether the customer is eligible to use the services. It is also preferable that the member stores' servers request credit card approval of the credit card company's server in order to identify the customer upon product purchase using the credit card, request signature data from the customer's computer when the affirmative approval from the credit card company's server in response to the credit card approval request is obtained, and transmit settlement particulars of the product purchase to the credit card company's server when the signature data is received from the customer's computer. Accordingly, it is preferable that the credit card company's server stores the settlement particulars of the product purchase, which are broken down and transmitted from the member store's server, and periodically transmits official announcements and the credit card transaction particulars of the respective customer including the stored settlement particulars of the product purchase to the relay server.
It is further preferable that the relay server issues CD-ROMs as the offline media for the respective customers, and inserts hypertexts, which are hyperlinked to the servers, as online connection information on the credit card company and the member stores affiliated therewith, into the issued CD-ROMs. Accordingly, it is preferable that when the customer requests to connect with the site of the specific member store by clicking the hypertext inserted in the CD-ROM, the relay server transmits a parameter for measuring the number of times the customer connects with the member store's server. Furthermore, the member stores' servers accumulate the transmitted parameter, and store and manage the number of times the customer connects.
It is lastly preferable that the relay server creates databased homepages for the respective customers, including the collected credit card transaction particulars of the customer, the selectively collected product advertisements in which the customer is interested, and respective online connection information (URL) on the credit card
company's server and the member stores' servers. Accordingly, the relay server provides the databased homepages of the customers to the customer's computer after going through the authentication for a specific customer who has connected with the site.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of an internet electronic commerce system and method through web-linked offline media according to the present invention will be explained in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIGS, la and lb show the entire constitution of the internet electronic commerce system through web-linked offline media according to the present invention.
Referring to FIGS, la and lb, the system of the present invention comprises a customer's computer 10; a relay server 20 for collecting credit card transaction particulars of customers and further selectively collecting product advertisements for member stores of a credit card company; a database 21 for storing the information collected by the relay server 20; a server 30 of the credit card company which issues the customer's credit card; and member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42.
Significantly, the relay server 20 collects the credit card transaction particulars of the customers from the credit card company's server, and further, selectively collects the advertisements of products of interest for the customers among the product
advertisements in the member stores' servers. Offline media containing the collected credit card transaction particulars of the customers and the collected advertisements of the products of interest for each individual customer, and online connection information (URL) on the credit card company's server 30 and the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42 are issued. Here, the online connection information (URL) is an address for connecting with sites of the credit card company's server 30 and the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42, and is contained in hyperlinked hypertexts. High-capacity storing media such as CD-ROMs are used as offline media.
The customer's computer 10 drives the offline media issued by the relay server 20. In response to this, information included in the offline media, such as the credit card transaction particulars of the customers, the product advertisements for the member stores, and the hypertexts containing the online connection information, is displayed. When the customer intends to connect with a specific server (a credit card company's server or a member store's server), a pre-registered identification number and password of the customer are transmitted to the relay server 20. Thus, the relay server 20 receives the customer's identification number and password transmitted from the customer's computer 10 in response to the driving of the offline media by the customer's computer 10, and authenticates whether the customer is eligible to use the services. Next, when the customer intends to purchase specific products from the member stores using his/her credit card, the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42 request approval of the customer's credit card from the credit card company's server 30 in order to identify the customer (especially, to check the authenticity of the credit card). When the affirmative approval from the credit card company's server in response to the approval request for the credit card is gained, it is required that signature data be transmitted to the customer's computer 10. Here, the signature data is a datum having the same function as the signature executed by the customer offline, and has already been stored in the customer's computer 10 as software. Then, when the signature data is transmitted from the customer's computer 10, the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42 transmit the settlement particulars for the product purchase to the
credit card company's server 30. Thus, the credit card company's server 30 classifies and stores the settlement particulars for the product purchase transmitted from the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42, on the basis of respective customers. The credit card company's server 30 periodically transmits the credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers, which include the aforementioned stored settlement particulars [for the product purchase of the respective customers], and the official announcement, to the relay server 20.
Next, the relay server 20 issues CD-ROMs as the offline media for the respective customers. Notably, the relay server 20 inserts hypertexts hyperlinked to the servers 30, 40, 41 and 42, as the online connection information on the credit card company performing the settlement approval of the customer's credit card and the price settlement with a bank, and on member stores affiliated therewith, into the issued CD-ROMs.
When the customer intends to connect with a site of a specific member store by clicking a specific hypertext in the CD-ROM issued to him/her, the relay server 20 transmits a parameter for measuring the number of times the customer connects with the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42. Accordingly, the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42 accumulate the transmitted parameter, and store and manage the number of times the customer connects. Consequently, by doing this, each member store can utilize it as marketing data.
As a separate example, the relay server 20 does not issue the offline media, which include the collected credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers, the advertisements of the products of interest and the online connection information (URL) on the credit card company's server 30 and the member stores' servers 40, 41 and 42. It does however create databased homepages for the respective customers online.
That is, the homepages for the respective customers, which include the collected credit card transaction particulars of the customers, the selectively collected advertisements of the products of interest, and the online connection information (URL) on the credit card company's server 30 and the member stores' servers 40, 41
and 42, are stored in a database. In this case, when a connected specific customer has been authenticated, the relay server 20 provides the customer's computer 10 with the databased homepage for the customer.
Hereinafter, the relay procedure of the electronic credit commerce according to the constitution and operation of the above system will be explained. The operation of the components of the system that are not accounted for above will be further explained in connection with the following procedure.
FIG. 2 is a flowchart showing a relay procedure of the internet electronic commerce according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2a, the relay server performs service registration for credit card companies in advance. It also collects information on the credit card transaction particulars of respective customers of the registered credit card companies, and information on the product advertisements for the member stores of credit card companies (1). Next, the relay server classifies the credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers, and extracts the advertisements of the products of interest for the respective customers (2).
The relay server issues offline media for the respective customers that include the credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers and the advertisements of the products of interest, and further include online connection information (URL) on the relevant credit card companies and member stores affiliated therewith (3).
The customer, having received the issued offline media, drives his/her offline media through the customer's own computer (4). Thus, the credit card transaction particulars of the customer and the advertisements of the products of interest are displayed in the customer's personal computer (5).
Then, when the customer intends to connect with a specific site (6), the relay server receives the identification number and password of the customer who requests the connection with the site, and performs the authentication of the received customer's identification number and password (7). After all, the relay server
determines whether the customer is eligible to use the services through the authentication, it interfaces the pages in the site of the requested credit card company or member store with the customer's computer (8).
Referring to FIG. 2b, the relay server performs the service registration for supporting companies in advance. It collects information on the product advertisements for the registered supporting companies (SI). The supporting companies include credit card companies, mobile communication companies, home shopping companies and member stores.
Additionally, the relay server issues offline media including the product advertisements for the supporting companies and further including the online connection information (URL) on the relevant supporting companies providing the collected information (S2).
Having received the issued offline media, the customer drives it through the customer's computer (S3). Thus, the product advertisements for the supporting companies and an offline magazine are displayed in the customer's computer (S4).
Thereafter, when the customer intends to connect with a site (S5), the relay server interfaces the pages in the site of the relevant supporting companies with the customer's computer (S6).
FIG. 3 shows the procedure of purchasing the products, which follows the procedure of FIG. 2, when the pages in the site of the member store are interfaced with the customer's computer.
FIG. 3 is a flowchart showing a relay procedure of the internet electronic commerce according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 3, when a customer intends to connect with a specific member store, the relay server interfaces the web page in the site of the relevant member store with the customer's computer (S10). Here, when the customer intends to connect with the specific member store, the relay server transmits a parameter for measuring the number of times the customer connects with the member store's server, and then the member store's server accumulates these numbers. The member store's server then performs the user authentication of the
connected customer (Sll). In this case, the customer's identification number/password for connecting with the site of the relay server are different from those for connecting with the site of the member store's server. When these are identical to each other, the user authentication in the member store's server may be omitted.
Next, when the authenticated customer requests to purchase products (SI 2), the member store's server confirms the customer through the inquiry about the credit card to the relevant credit card company's server (SI 3).
When the customer requesting to purchase the products performs the purchase settlement using his/her credit card, the member store's server requests signature data from the customer's computer (S14).
When the signature data is transmitted from the customer's computer and the customer's settlement of the product purchase is approved (SI 5), the member store's server of the member store selling the products transmits the settlement particulars of the product sale to the credit card company's server and the customer's computer (SI 6).
Subsequently, when completion of the settlement is confirmed, online by a person in charge of delivery, the relevant products are delivered to the customer's address.
In the procedure of FIG. 3, the member store's server may not accumulate the number of times the customer connects, but the relay server may receive a parameter for measuring this number from the customer's computer, accumulate it and transmit the accumulated number to the member store's server.
In the procedure of FIG. 3, the member store's server analyzes logon/logoff times of the customer by performing the user authentication of the connected customer, so that the duration of the customer staying at the site of the member store with which the customer has connected is measured, accumulated and managed.
FIGS. 4a and 4b are flowcharts showing a relay procedure of the internet electronic commerce according to a third embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 4a, the relay server performs in advance the service registration of the credit card company, requests information on the credit card
transaction particulars of respective customers to the registered credit card company, and requests product information to member stores of the registered credit card company (S20).
Accordingly, the relay server collects information on the credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers and the official announcement of the credit card company, and further collects product advertisements from various member stores affiliated with the credit card company (S21).
Next, after the relay server has classified the credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers and extracted the advertisements for the products of interest, it creates CD-ROM magazine data simultaneously applied to both online and offline (S22) by customizing data on the respective customers. Here, the CD-ROM magazine data is data on each customer, which includes the credit card transaction particulars of the customer, the advertisements of the products of interest, and online connection information (URL) on the relevant credit card companies and member stores affiliated therewith.
When the CD-ROM magazine data is applied to offline, the relay server issues a CD-ROM magazine containing the CD-ROM magazine data (S27).
When a hyperlink request for connecting with a site through the driving of the issued CD-ROM magazine is generated (S28) from the customer's computer, the relay server performs the connection with the page in the site of the requested credit card company or member store (S29).
The online application of the CD-ROM magazine data will now be explained.
The relay server creates databased homepages for the respective customers, which contain the collected credit card transaction particulars of the respective customers, the advertisements of the products of interest and online connection information (URL) on the credit card company's server and the member stores' servers (S23).
Next, when, upon instruction of the customer, the customer's computer requests the connection with the relay server (S24), the relay server performs the user authentication process (S25). At this time, when the authentication is successful, the relay server interfaces
the relevant databased homepage for the respective customers with the customer's computer (S26).
The following will be explained with reference to FIG. 4b.
The relay server provides the credit card transaction particulars of the customer connected therewith, and information on the purchase products of interest for the customer and the member stores selling them (S30 and S31).
When a purchase request of products sold in a specific member store is generated from the customer's computer (S32), the relay server transmits the purchase order made out by the customer to the site of the relevant member store's server, and stores it (S33 and S34).
The relay server then relays the purchase settlement between the member store and the credit card company (S35). More particularly, the relay server receives the member store's identification number, enterprise registration number and name/address, and the names and prices of the products sold from the member store. It also receives the credit card number and the term of validity of the customer's credit card and the approval number from the credit card company. A credit purchase slip containing products sale/purchase date, and signature data transmitted from the customer's computer in addition to the contents transmitted from the credit card company and the member store affiliated therewith is created, and the created credit purchase slip is transmitted to the member store's server, the credit card company's server and the customer's computer (S36).
Industrial Applicability
According to the internet electronic commerce system and method through web-linked offline media of the present invention as described above, since the large- capacity products advertisements of the member stores of the credit card company are issued as offline media, and only the product purchase requested by the customer is made online, the limit on the amount of online data transmission, which was an obstacle in operating the site of the member store, is overcome. Consequently, large- scale publicity and various three-dimensional product advertisements can be carried
out, thus, marketing effects are maximized and customer's satisfaction and company's competitiveness will also be enhanced.
Further, according to the present invention, in the case of a customer using several credit cards, since the credit card transaction particulars are transmitted by means of one media in the lump, the customer-oriented service is realized. In the case of using community services, events and customer centers of the credit card companies, since direct connection with them is relayed, customer's satisfaction in the services can heighten.
Furthermore, according to the present invention, when the product purchase is carried out at the internet site of the member store affiliated with the credit card company, due to the purchase settlement being directly relayed between the customer and the credit card company, customer satisfaction through quick purchase, increase in sales of the member stores and increase in utility of the credit card are induced.
It should be understood that a person skilled in the art may make various modifications and changes to the invention without departing from the technical spirit of the invention.
The scope of this invention is not to be limited to the details of the embodiments, but to be defined by the appended claims.
